Steven Spada is a partner at Redmond Law with a practice focusing on construction law, commercial litigation, commercial transactions, labor and employment, and real estate law, where he often acts as general counsel in advising public and private companies on construction projects as well as on transactional and corporate matters. As a sophisticated negotiator, Mr. Spada works towards mitigating or eliminating client exposure to avoid potential litigation, or in the event litigation is unavoidable, putting his client in a favorable position to win. Mr. Spada drafts, negotiates and reviews hundreds of construction contracts each year. His in-depth knowledge of every provision in public and private contracts and subcontracts provides his clients with the best resource for a solid contract that works to resolve issues at the earliest possible time, thereby avoiding costly disputes. Mr. Spada’s experience, innovative thinking and common-sense approach to business and construction related disputes enables him to identify and create solutions in order to obtain favorable results that meet the clients’ expectations and bottom line.
Mr. Spada has successfully negotiated and settled many multi-million dollar complex construction project and corporate disputes and has effectively and expeditiously obtained court rulings and judgments in his clients’ favor. He represents a broad range of clients including owners, developers, contractors, subcontractors, construction managers, architects, engineers and sureties and he has been intricately involved with construction projects in the private, public, and the affordable and supportive housing sectors, including mixed-use commercial and residential buildings, schools, hospitals, religious institutions, and infrastructure projects for New York’s energy, water, roadways, bridges, and subways.
Mr. Spada’s experience includes contract drafting and negotiation, scope of work disputes, payment disputes, change order disputes, construction defects, delay claims, mechanic’s liens, bond claims, wrongful termination, and insurance claims. Additionally, Mr. Spada represents owners, developers, and contractors on neighboring property disputes and has an established track record of successfully negotiating license and access agreements as well as litigating RPAPL 881 proceedings.
Mr. Spada earned his Juris Doctor from Brooklyn Law School and his Bachelor of Arts from Fordham University.
